The campaign to keep Independent Midwifery alive continues
The government are still going ahead with plans to effectively outlaw independent midwifery by making it illegal to practise
without insurance. The IMA has worked long and hard to set up contracts for independent midwives to be able to contract in to
Primary Care Trusts. There are two reasons for this, first this means that we would be covered by the NHS insurance and we will
be paid by the PCT, and so making our services available to more women. If you like the sound of this then please visit the
website and see what you can do to help.
Sussex Antenatal Classes
The classes at Shoreham have been running for a year now, they are getting very popular and both Louise and I are really
enjoying teaching them. Due to demand, we are planning to offer courses in Haywards Heath, and we have found a lovely location
just a stones throw from the Princess Royal Hospital.
